One of the most important skills that we want to promote through the implementation of this project is cooperation.
We believe in cooperative learning strategies as necessary tools to promote cooperation among our students.
At the beginning of the school year, we promoted class cohesion through ice-breaking games and activities, creating the rules for our classes, choosing a name for the class and deciding the roles to be carried out in the class. These class roles will rotate weekly.
We also created the Yellow Pages of our class, where each student writes and draws about his/her preferences and strenghts so, when a student needs help with something, he can search for it on the yellow pages. Getting to know each other is paramount for creating a nice environment in the class.
Once the characteristics and preferences of our students have been analyzed along the first weeks, we set up the cooperative teams. These are heterogeneus: boys and girls, shier and extrovert students, different levels of competence...
After establishing the teams, we implement several strategies to promote cohesion in the teams: they create a name for the team, decide their rules and we create the roles to be implemented within the team. These roles rotate every two weeks.
